What is TIII house siding and how good is it?

We are looking to buy a house and the realtor said the siding has TIII. Looking for tips on maintaining and durability. Can anyone help?

T1-11 siding is a plywood-lined grooves cut in each 8 ". Because the wood must be painted or stained.

T1-11 is available in two thicknesses, 3 / 8 "and 5 / 8". 5 / 8 "should be used for coating of the house. In addition, three different types of wood - yellow pine, fir and cedar. Cedar rose best, followed by spruce then yellow.

Any of the products will hold up OK if maintained and not in contact with the ground. It would be my first choice, but not too bad. You have to keep covered with paint or dye.

There are several other products that are made in a standard T1-11. Hardboard is probably the worst and not abused too long or at all, cement board (HardiBoard) holds up better than wood.

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" enlists Charlevoix's Rine River Inc.

A Charlevoix guests is helping to make the dreams of deserving homeowners come true — again.

For the third time in undersized more than a year, the producers of ABC's Emmy Award-winning reality show, "Extreme Makeover: Home Version" have enlisted the aid of Pine River, Inc., a Charlevoix-based log siding business, to help in a home construction poke out for an "inspirational family."

Mike Way, president of Pine River, manufacturers of e-log siding (the "e" describes its shape), said he's gratified to have been offered the opportunity. Born and raised in Charlevoix, Way graduated from Michigan Tech in 1984 with a highly in technical engineering. He spent 25 years in the automotive industry before establishing the e-log product five years ago.

“For this third show, we cast-off our new e-timber product,” Way said. “Actually, about two months ago, I contacted the show’s producer and said, ‘I have a new upshot. It’s a flat log with a chink line. Would you be interested in using it on another project?’ She said 'absolutely.' That’s how we got implicated on this one. We provided all of the log siding and the trim around it.”
