Escala estate has Old World style, modern amenities

At 7,086 fair and square feet, Eric and Kelly Guziejka's house is one of the smaller ones in the Escala gated neighborhood, but it has the have a funny feeling of a spacious estate on almost two acres.

Kelly Guziejka is the daughter of Lawrence G. Rawl, who was the CEO of Exxon from 1987 to 1993. The Guziejkas bought the 2005 residence when builder Enfield Homes was about two-thirds finished with construction. It went on the market for $2.75 million in October. Tom Hoopingarner of Prudential Texas Realty is the listing agency.

From the front door on, the five-bedroom home at 7901 Dadiva Court has an Old World feel. The large arched alder wood front door features a smaller door to sound through to see who's knocking.

Mesquite hardwood flooring gives the house a rich feel throughout. On one side of the foyer, a nurture-in-law suite offers a large travertine walk-in shower with bench, walk-in closet and doors that show onto a front patio.

Across the foyer from it is the dining room, which also has doors to the outside. Almost every room on the first floor offers a door to either the front yard or backyard.
