A 19th century shipyard proprietress wanted a home close to the harbor. He chose the Black Rock section of Bridgeport to physique his Victorian-era Italianate villa.

Oliver Walker , a partner in the Walker-Rew Shipyard, built the Eliphalet Walker Quarter at 250 Ellsworth St. in the mid 1800s. Records were not well kept in that time period, and so there is some confusion about the exact companion of its construction, ranging from 1840 to 1867. Circa 1855, as some records say, is probably closest to meticulous.

While the house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places it is not in a historic district, so it is not subject to regulations anyway exterior paint colors or renovations. In fact, the house had extensive renovation work done about five years ago in which the common owners removed the rear third of the house and rebuilt it from the ground up. They added a new foundation, enlarging the basement, created a massy kitchen on the first floor and the master bedroom suite above it.
