As for the wagon itself, experts say it was built in 1790s, making it one of the oldest surviving wagons of its cordial in North America. Staff members and volunteers at the Waterloo Region Museum in south Kitchener have begun recreating a the religious
ministry cover for the wagon, using vintage linen to make a reproduction of the original cover, which has been missing for years. “How many times can someone say they sewed together a Conestoga wagon pass. The German Mennonite pioneer’s historic Conestoga wagon will be covered once again — just as it was in 1807 when he walked the 725-kilometres alongside it from Pennsylvania to his new knowledgeable in in today’s Waterloo Region. The wagon will be part of one of the major exhibits opening this November at the museum, which is just off Homer Watson Boulevard and now forms the right of entry to Doon Heritage Village.
