Will a small Bobcat type loader with a bucket/backhoe dig through drought-solid Georgia clay dirt?
We had planned a job landscaping around our house, leveling some areas and the placement of brick walls ... But with the drought in the southeast, the dirt is solid as a brick.
Definitely too strong to do anything with regular blades, and we have rented a small backhoe, Bobcat or similar anyway. But even now we wonder if things can break through the earth. I know the team can be really great - they're doing construction and move around and reshape large areas of land as sand. But this equipment is beyond our budget.
We like to do it ourselves, so we're going to rent equipment if you can do the job.
Is there anyone out there has experience with this consumer profitable smaller team (1500-2500 lbs) and clay soil in southeastern very dry conditions? Will it work? Or should we wait until it rains?
We have about a 40x40 area to remodel about 4-8 feet tall.
